Solomon KLINE was born April 30, 1830 in Center Township, Union Co., PA, a son of John M. and Julia Ann (BOWERSOX) KLINE, and died at his home in Pleasant Valley on Sunday, May 19, 1912, aged 82 years and 19 days.
He was married to Catherine REISH on June 6, 1850 in Union Co., PA and he and his family moved to Michigan shortly after the Civil War. They were the parents of seven children, namely, Mrs. Jabob (Jennie) SWARTZ, Mrs. Zacharias (Angeline) BOWERSOX, who died in 1899, Oliver P. KLINE, Mrs. Bruce (Agnes) SHUTES, Mrs. Chas. (Anna) JACKSON, Sherman Elzie KLINE and Jeremiah KLINE, who preceded him in death. His wife, Catherine, died in 1868. His second marriage was to Rosanna SCHOOK of Elkhart, Indiana in 1871. They were parents of six children, Clarence Bert KLINE, Clarkie, who died in 1874, William D. who died in 1889, and Mrs. Arthur (Frania) PURDY. Survivors are his wife, Rosanna, nine children, many grandchildren, and two brothers, Emmanuel KLINE of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Robert KLINE of Pleasant Valley. He was preceded in death by brothers, Levi KLINE and Michael KLINE and sisters, Mrs. Simon (Delila) STOCK, Mrs. David (Julia) REISH, Mrs. Elizabeth BENFER, Mrs. Samuel (Eliza) WRAY and Mrs. William (Sarah) SAMPSELL.
Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Valley Church and burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
