Classification: Obituary
Surnames: HARRIS, COREY, SNELL
Benjamin Sanford HARRIS was born in Portage Township, Kalamazoo County, November 9, 1847 and departed this life December 8, 1913 after an illness of over 3 months.

September 28, 1873 he was married to Ella M. COREY and has since resided in Porter Township, Van Buren County. To them were born two daughters, Mrs. Bernice SNELL and Bertha. His family was all with him during his sickness. His illness began while attending the M. P. Camp Meeting at Gull Lake, but after 2 weeks was able to reach home without much discomfort and seemed cheered at the thought of being home; but later when his suffering increased and continued he wearied of earth and longed for heaven, his only regret being that he must be separated from his family and many friends. He had a remarkably patient and cheerful disposition which continued to the end. He has been for many years a member of the Methodist Protestant Church, his devotion being deep and earnest, always rejoicing in the prosperity of the church.

The funeral was conducted from Harmony Chapel, Rev. J. A. Moray officiating, assisted by Rev. T. G. Raber. Text, Rev. 14:13. Interment was made in Bly Cemetery.
