It is in Marinette County, Wisconsin. It was a port town associated with Marinette. In studying the Zion Lutheran Church, 2714 James Street, Marinette Town, Marinette Co., Wisconsin church history on microfilm from the Marinette Public Library it mentions this town several times. The film covered the history of the church starting in 1875. From this we learned that subscriptions were being raised for a new church in Menekaune, Marinette, and Menominee, Wisconsin for Lutherans. Nearly $1000 was pledged at the 1876 meeting and by August 16, 1876 a lot was donated by the Menominee River Lumber Company. By October 4, 1876 they decided to incorporate their church. They still had not found a minister by 1879 however so they were searching for one and still working on that until July 26, 1879. The minutes went on until well after 1910. I was following John Anderson and his wife Anna Erickson who had a child baptised in that church in Marinette 6 Aug 1895.
