Looking for any information regarding Louis LACROIX, born circa 1810 in Missouri, believed to have died July 31, 1874 "On land he owned at Big Stone Lake, MN". Previous research had been done to identify this date of death, but we have no record or documentation of where researcher got this info. Last location I found record of him was in 1870 Census in Renville County, MN, in town of Beaver Falls.
Louis was also known as Frederick Louis LACROIX. Wife was Rosalie, Sioux indian woman of the Mdwankanton tribe(Indian name MAR-PIY-A-MASE) Known children of Louis Lacroix:
Frederick, Louis Jr., Eulalie, Helene, Spencer, Adrienne, and Oliver Spencer. They previously lived in St. Paul/Ramsey county/MN in 1850+, Birch Cooley Township/Renville County/MN 1860+, Sought Refuge in Fort Ridgely during the 1862 Dakota Conflict, then Beaver Falls/Renville County/MN in 1870.
Is anyone aware of death records available for Big Stone county for 1874?? Was there an actual location/township called Big Stone Lake? Any ideas where I can go from here?
Thanks for any guidance/info you may have! Denise
