Tracy - How good to hear from you at last. I had about given up on pursuing the Lamus people. To start, my great grandfather was Peter Olof Lindberg (also spelled Linberg in the church records). He immigrated to the US in 1869 and settled in Chisago City, Minnesota. He married his Swedish sweetheart in Center City, Minnesota in (I think) 1870. Her name was Anna Lovisa Johannsdotter, although the church records call her Johnson. They had seven children, one of whom was Johan Bernard (my grandfather). Two others, Nils Edward and Carl August headed west around the turn of the century. Both took the name of a benefactor, Lamus. We thought that they had stopped in Wendover, Utah, but apparently they spent some time in Redding, California.
Nils took the name Edward Lamus and married Martha. They had a son, Blair who, in turn married Nellie Marie Palmer. His brother Carl married Elizabeth. Aside from some dates which I have left out for the moment, that's about all I have on them.
In 1947 (or 1948) my folks and I and my sister were in Wendover and we met Blair and Nellie. There was another man, some kin to Blair, but I forget his name and exact connection. My memory of Blair was that he was, to my juvenile eyes, a huge man - well over 6 feet tall and my guess to be around 250 pounds. They operated a potash plant out in the desert.
I will have to start going through all my notes to get a better handle on the Lamus line. I will be more than pleased to share all that I have with you if you don't already have it.
Sincerely,
Chuck Hoelzel
