Thank you,
Thomas's mother Mary Barrett died in Ontario. and His Father Hugh Conroy was found in MN on a census in 1880.

I found the Land patents and maps on ancestry. Do you know why the Irish went from Ontario to MN? did they have to be in the military to get the grants? Have you found your ancestors on passenger lists from canada to MN?
Thank you for your reply.
Karen

MOORHEAD DAILY NEWS NOVEMBER 21, 1939 PAGE 3

Mrs. Catherine Conroy
Dies In Hospital Here
Mrs. Catherine Conroy, widow
of Thomas Conroy, died at St.
Ansgar hospital at 1:30 a. m. today.
A member of St. Joseph's church,
she had been a resident of Clay
county since 1872. Her husband
died in April, 1925.
Surviving are four children: Mrs.
Ed. Clemens, 212 Fourth street
north; Mrs. S. E. Casabar, Marmarth,
N. D.; Joseph, Portal, N. D.;
and Eugene, Detroit Lakes. The
body is at Wrights funeral home

It looks like the database I used does not have years as early as 1925. Do you know if Thomas's parents came to Minnesota, or stayed in Canada? My great grandparents came from Ontario to Duluth about 1880, it wasn't that uncommon. Sometimes they traveled by ship on the Great Lakes.

Peter RAUSCH (1888 - 1982) of Dilworth, MN

Seeking information about Peter Rausch of Dilworth, Clay County, Minnesota. I found his listing in the SSDI database. I believe he was the brother of my great-grandmother, Josephine Rausch (born 1 May 1887). Peter Rausch appears on the 1910 Philadelphia city census, as the brother-in-law to Nicholos Schuler; Josephine is the wife. Peter is 22 years old on the census; Josephine is 23.

The SSDI shows that Peter's card was issued in North Dakota before 1951. I imagine that he ventured to Fargo to signup or may have moved around. When he died, April 1982, his last residence was Dilworth ZIP-56560. I believe that he id not marry or have children.

Any information about Peter Rausch or recommended resources for further research is greatly appreciated.

Charles McCool

Rugg family

Rev John Simons of Kent had a daughter Rebecca b 1791 who m Charles Rugg in 1820. The Rugg family owned iron mines in England somewhere.
One of the children of this marriage was another Charles Rugg b London 1831 who m Jane Eaton in London in 1853. They appear in 1861 and 1871 census in London.
May 1873 Charles immigrated to the US with most of the children; Jane seems to have remained in England.
I have found Charles in Clay County in the US 1880 census and again in 1900 and 1910. Some of his children moved on to Montana and California, but others remained in MN, marrying as far as I can tell into the Antrim family.
Surnames in the next generation include Austad, Olsen, Schauer, Berg, McMains.
I'm keen to exchange inforamtion ... does anyone know anything?
[This is to some extent a cross-posting as I've asked similar questions on the Yellowstone, Montana board.]

Thank you!

Thanks for scanning these. I have a few further identifications.

#2729- funeral of ?? This is the funeral of Fritz Almquist. He died Mar 12, 1906, and was buried Mar 15, 1906. He was born Oct 06, 1863 in Emmabo, Vissefjärda, Kalmar, Sweden. The photo matches one we have of him.

#5136- class of __.jpg The girl, 2d person in front row looks like my grandmother, Charlotte Almquist, b. Dec 25, 1894, although it could possibly be her older sister, Lyla Almquist, b. Jun 01, 1893. The photo was probably taken between 1904 and 1906. After the death of her husband, Fritz Almquist, Ellen Olson Almquist took her children and moved in with her widowed father, Tosten Olson, in Houston, MN.

The photo labeled Almquist is most likely Severina Olson Fagersund, b. Mar 1859 in Norway, wife of Frank Almquist, and their adopted daughter, Olga Ellingson, b. Jan 1886. There were no other females in Hawley in 1880-1910 with surname Almquist.

Hi
Nikolaus Wambach in my family tree was born on March 26, 1826 at Luxemborg, Germany and shows up in Canada in 1861. He then emmigrated to Georgetown, Clay County, Minnesota after 1871 and shows up in the US Census in 1880. His wife's name was Katherin Tiber Leitzen, 1832-1914. They had 13 children. I have quite an extensive descendant chart of Nickolaus and cannot find the Nickolas Wambach you refer to in my charts. I am a descendant of the Nickolaus Wambach in Clay County. Many of his descendants stayed in this area. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

He was not married at the time of his death but he was married to Grace Ellen Wickham. They had five children, Orville, Arlan, Delbert, Edwin, Margaret. There was also a baby girl that died but I dont know her name. I have found them in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census but then it all falls throught the cracks. Do you know if the Riverside Cemetery keeps good records?

I possibly have a picture of a couple people you are looking for. The Pechaceks (family I knew) lived in Dilworth, Mn. (Clay County) remarried to Johnson. The others may have been in Becker County or another surrounding county in Mn. My great grandma had a connection to them and right off the top of my head I don't remember how. I think Joseph is one who passed away (not sure which generation Joseph), but when his kids were young. The mother remarried Johnson man. Anyhow, email me direct and type PECHACEK in the subject line. I went to school with some of the kids. Anyhow, accidently saw Troseth in a search for something else. My great grandparents were Troseths in Becker County.

I have been contacted by a cousin who found my Mother's Obituarary. I am the daughter of Marjorie Bergin, who was born in Canada, and Moved to the Fargo area with her mother. I have Marion's birth and death certificate, as well as her marriage certificate to Austin Bergin. I just came across a photo of William, Marions' Father, last night. She was born in Hawley, and Married in Goodrich at 18. Thank's to the previous posts, I can put time periods on life span's, and where they took place. My Grandmother, who is buried in Fargo, brought her young daughter back to this region. I am excited to be able to create connections to my history. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Any people still alive that knew her and family would be great to get in contact with.

Hello!
I just saw your posting regarding Peter Olsen Mæhre (Peter Ole Peterson Mæhre). I am trying to find his decendants in USA, and wonder if you are one of them. The picture you enclose, which one is of Peter?
I don't think there is any close relationship between Peter and either of Carl Martin Myhre or John Halvorsen, as I have quite a lot of his ancestors.
If you have some information about Peter's decendants that you are willing to share with me, or if there is information you are looking for about this family, please contact me on my email address: heggre@7510.no. Thank you! Grethe Hegge

I am a little confused about your grandmother's lineage. Rev. J. H. Myhre had a daughter, Borghild Halvorson that married and Olaf I. Sethre. They had three children Burnett Kellog Sethre (b. 1901), Ophilia Jessica Sethre (b. 1903) and Harold Irving Sethre (b. 1905). Would this be your grandmother's family?

I didn't see any Martins in the book.

You can find the book online. Go to www.hcscconline.org (Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County). Then go to Research. Then go to the book, A History of Clay and Norman Counties.

Hope this helps!

Carol
