Maurice Baker Potter, Deceased October 20, 2003 Born November 14, 1907 in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County to Roy Matthew and Pearl Potter of Jeffers. Maurice attended the Minnesota School for the Deaf in Faribault and graduated on May 28, 1928 after a very memorable sports career in the school's history. He married his high school sweetheart on May 21, 1931. Maurice was preceded in death by wife Edna of 67 years; brother, Malcolm of Windom; and grandson, Randy of Lakeville. He is survived by sons, Wally & wife Ardyce of Lakeville and Jim & wife Kathy of Morristown; grandchildren, Rory & wife Judy of New Prague, Rick & wife Janine of Inver Grove Heights, Danny & wife Susan of Tooele, UT, Laurie & husband Jim Lee of Eagan, Bradley of Lakeville, Pat & wife Carol of Sartell, David & wife Lisa of Sparks, NV, Tony & wife Michelle of Elk Grove, CA, Dennis & wife Tonya of Stillwater, and Steve & wife Anne of Elk Grove, CA; also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren. Maurice's true love was sports of any kind, and his love of baseball kept him active for many years. He was inducted into the American Athletic Association of the Deaf Hall of Fame in 1969. He was inducted into the Minnesota School for the Deaf Hall of Fame in 1977 and the MSAD Aces Hall of Fame in 1999. In 1985 Maurice was inducted into the MN Amateur Baseball Hall of Fame in St. Cloud after many years of playing and 44 years of umpiring baseball at all levels in MN. The football field on the campus of MN State Academy for the Deaf in Faribault was named as Maurice Potter football field.

Funeral service 10:30 AM Saturday, St. John's Lutheran Church, Lakeville, MN. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens, Windom, MN.
