Immigration: father from North of Ireland, mother of Scotch descent born at Lisbon Center New York.
Parents: John and Nancy (Colman) Aiton. They came to Minnesota in 1856. John Aiton was a builder and erected the Glenwood, Pope county, MN high school building and courthouse. He also built the Alexandria high school before his death in 1887. His wife died 3 months later.
Spouse: m. January 1, 1879 at Glenwood, MN to Isabel Davis, daughter of Lorenzo Davis, of Pope County, MN.
Children: (5) Lorna E., Roy C., Archer W., Floyd C., James L.
Other: Charles E. Aiton returned to Alexandria in 1876, and build many of the best store buildings in Alexandria, the jail and Sheriff’s residence erected in 1900, and assisted his father in the erection of the elegant court house. He owns a well constructed brick residence at 1014 Seventh Avenue, Alexandria.
