My g-g-grandfatherJacob Sandsness and his wife Katherine Bjerke came to the Rushford area, Fillmore County in the 1860's. Supposedly a settlement called Sandsness was established. The school was called Sandsness School. Jacob had seven children who had large families. The oldest my g-grandfather was Halvor Sandsness. He married Marie Miller in Rushford, Mn on 01-22-1878. They had seven children there: Clara (my grandmother,born on 10-27-1878 in Bratsberg), John, Thorval, James,Hjalmer, Henry and Julia. About 1888 Halvor moved his family with his sister Georgina and her family the Samuel Bergs to Sweetgrass County, MT. There were still a few Sandsness family in the area. I can not seem to find information on the settlement or locate any of the family. Would be extremely thankful for any help in locating family or information on the settlement.
