Still searching for info on the surnames mentioned above. Most settled in Fillmore county in Minnesota or areas nearby.Old pioneers names were Halvor Pederson and wife Barbro from Hallingdal Norway. Lived in Amherst township. Bottolf and wife Gertrud Peterson from Aurland, Sogn Norway. Later known as Bottolf Ramsey. Lived in Pilot Mound. Ole and Kari Peterson from Halso, Luster in Sogne Fiord. Settled in Amherst township. Iver Torgerson and wife Brithe from Balestrand, Sogn Norway, settled in Arendahl. Had daughter Mari (Iversdatter )Torgerson who married Gilbert Lewis(AKA Guldbrand Larson or Guldbrand Lasseson Ve). Gilbert was the son of Malena Guldbrandsdatter Abøle and Lasse Guldbrandson Ve. They came from Ardal(Sogn) Norway in 1853 and settled first in Wisconsin possible in Columbia County?? Malena had a brother Gilbert Gilbertson of Grant county. His daughter married a Slinde, who was, it appears, her first cousin...son of Malena's sister Anna who also came over in 1853. This Slinde couple raised a family in Fillmore county also. Gilbert Lewis(Malena's son) and his wife lived in Arendahl township. Gilbert appears to have married twice more before he died. Second wife was Ingeborg or Isabel Anderson and I think they had one son Christian who died young, but un able to find out more. Later Gilbert married a Kjersti Hogie and had a son Henry who I believe may have served as a "home gaurd" in 1st world war.
Gilbert's mother Malena, was married again sometime after she came over..second time to a Iver Johnson. Cannot find anything more on this. She was living with Gilbert Lewis during the 1900 census in Arendahl township, but it ends there.. visited 7 cemetaries there last summere and could not find Gilbert Lewis or his mother Malena or his father Lasse Guldbrandson Ve....or for that matter Malena's second husband Iver Johnson.
Would be interested in any more info that someone out there may have on any of these families.
