I am trying to find the FROMDAHL family in any census before 1910. Sprcifically, George (born 1939 in Sogn, Norway and settled after service in the civil war in Frost; Johannes, also from Sogn, Norway about 1840 both and settled in Frost after civil war and Buttof who was born in 1840, Sogn, Norway and died in Mississippi in 1865 from disease while with his unit in the civil war. I found one group of children in the 1870 census;

I wonder if the children could have been Buttof's and Martha remarried?? It is a guess. any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Was browsing through the Fromdahl names in the 1920 and 1930 census.
Did find a Bottolf Johannes Fromdahl (also known as Butler and Buster). He was born abt 1883 . He had two wives, I think. The 1920 Census states his wife as Pauline and the 1930 census states his wife as Margaret.
The 1930 census has them in Hettinger, Adams Cty., SD.
They had the following children:
1-Wilfred Ode Fromdahl, b 9 Apr 1909 died 23 Sep 1971, Douglas Cty., OR.
2-Earl b abt 1911, SD
3-Marvin C. Fromdahl, b 17 Feb 1912, died 7 Sep 2003, Clark Cty., SD.
4-Ben Fromdahl, b 1914, MT; md. Myrtle Goodmanson, 17 May 1936, Corson Cty., SD.
5-Hilma B., b abt 1915, MT.
6-Lloyd b abt 1921
7-Marian, b 1923; md. C. Art Swenson, 19 May 1941, Lake Cty., SD.

There were Fromdahl families in Montana, South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. But did not find a George, Johannes or Buttof. Sorry.

If these above names and children are related, please let me know. Will keep looking for a living relative. Did find a Lloyd G. Fromdahl in Roseburg, OR. Phone number 541-672-7271. Don't know if he is the Lloyd above or someone else.

I am in possession of an old (1858) Norwegian Bible with the following written in it in script... This was passed down from my second Grandmother Gerda Andersen Houmann from Frederickshavn Denmark, she had family in Aarhus and Aalborg and elsewhere in Denmark, I do know that several of her brothers spelled the Andersen, Anderson... Carl and Gregers...which would be the Norwegian spelling?

To my knowledge, I do not know where this book/or people fall in that part of the family...but the coincidences with your post were too great to ignore, whether these are your people who immigrated to the US, I'm not sure...but

(I have another handwritten page of Arnnesons or Annesons Christensens, and Svalestruns(?) from 1840-1881.. which would probably be the next generation- there is a Botolf JohN 17 MAY 1877)
