Surnames: ALMQUIST, THOMAS, BARRETT
Looking for the family of the THOMAS Brothers who operated the Pine Cone Camp in 1924, in or near Hubbard Co., and in particular the family of William (Willie) ALMQUIST (b. 2 Jun 1892), who was killed in a car accident in Hubbard County in 1924, who was married to a sister of the THOMAS Brothers, and had 2 children. William ALMQUIST is buried in Henrietta Cemetery, Henrietta Twp, Hubbard Co., MN, but his wife is not buried with him. His father, Walfrid ALMQUIST is buried there and his sister (Nancy ALMQUIST), but not his mother, Christine ALMQUIST.

The news story of the accident reads, in part:
Wednesday evening Mr. and Mrs. Will ALMQUIST and two children and Mrs. L. H. BARRETT were driving north over the Jefferson Highway near the Batcheller home six miles north of town when they met a car with unusually bright lights. In turning out to pass the approaching car, Mr. ALMQUIST turned too far, undoubtedly being blinded by the bright lights, and his car went over the bank.... the ALMQUIST car turned bottom side up over the ditch.... Mr. ALMQUIST was driven into the mud head first clear to his waist, where he smothered before help reached him.... Mrs. ALMQUIST and the children were not seriously hurt, but Mrs. Barrett was pinned under the car where she was held until help arrived, but was not seriously injured.
Wm. ALMQUIST was about 28 years of age, and was a brother-in-law of the THOMAS brothers of Pine Cone Camp, where he had been employed for several summers.

This is possibly the family of William ALMQUIST from the 1920 census, in Virginia, MN
ALMQUIST, William, head, m, 27 (b. 1892), b MN, parents b. Sweden, pitman-iron mines,
ALMQUIST, Katherine, wife, f, 27 (b. 1892), b WI, father b. PA, mother b. WI
ALMQUIST, Charles, son m, 15/12 (b. Sep 1918), b. MN, father b. MN, mother b. WI
So his wifeÂ’s name MAY be Katherine THOMAS.

This is the only THOMAS family I found in Hubbard County in the 1900 census, and there was no daughter Katherine THOMAS. (Baclovia Twp, ED 72, sheet 1, line 51)
THOMAS, Jeremiah, b. May 1841, MA
THOMAS, Nellie, wife, b. Aug 1863, Canada (English)
THOMAS, Frank, son, b. Jan 1881, IA
THOMAS, Nellie, dau, b. Mar 1882, IA
THOMAS, Rallie, son, b. Feb 1884, IA
THOMAS, Bert, son, b. Feb 1887, IA
THOMAS Minnie, dau, b. Apr 1889, IA
THOMAS, George, son, b. Jun 1892, IA
THOMAS, Eva, dau, b. Oct 1893, IA
THOMAS, Bessie, b. Mar 1896, SD

William ALMQUISTÂ’s wife may have remarried after he died, and it is possible that his children were adopted (either formally, or simply assumed their step-fatherÂ’s name). Seeking wifeÂ’s first and last name, and the names of his 2 children, born before 1924.
