Not sure if you are still on here since the reply was last in 2006 and I'm just seeing this now! Still looking for info :)
I am looking for a few people now since reasearching more. One is a Sofia (sophie) kasowan who married a George Onysko in Gardenton. She died quite young I believe but not before giving birth to a child...any info on that? That would be great! She is the "great aunt" I discovered through census records!!
thank you!

jen

That was very good, I have been investigating for a long time after this information. In fact Mickael's wife Ellen Maria (born Jensd.Myren)was the oldest sister of my gr.grandfather. and I did know that they came up to Hallock in 1879 and started a farm there, I didn't know exactly where, but now I got the answer. In 1995 I met Lloyd Wakefield and his wife from Turlock, Calefornia, at that time I didn't have so much informaton about the Moen family, but I have collected a lot now. I know that the they both have passed away, so I can't get any more information there. What I would like is to find out is if there are any left of the family in Hallock or somewere else in Kittson county or MN.
Back in 1981 I got a litle farm after my unmarried uncle who died that year. There I discovered a number of letters from Mrs. M.O.Moen, even pictures, and there were a photo of the whole family, Mike and Ellen Maria and the children, there were also Lloyds mother, he could not belive it in 1995, but the writings on the back told it.
I still have a lot of questions about the whole family, so if there are any living cousins in US and special the Hallock area, I would like to get in contact with them. And may bee, I would like to see the place my relatives went to, so a tour to Hallock would be very intresting.
PS.: Mickael died in 1932 so it must have been in the newspaper in 1932. Ellen Maria also had a sister who went to US, but that was in 1875 as far as I know.

I would love if we could share trees. I have been to MN and gotten naturalization papers for most of the Edkins. Also been to Stratford-Upon-Avon, where they have lots of Edkins info. Have seen their farmland outside St. Vincent and many of their headstones in the cemetery. Would love to share by e-mail - let me know! Thanks, Alice

Thanks for the tip, but that tree was made by my son. We still haven't been able to figure out anything about Dina. This is the second time in my family search that I have discovered this. Previously in Norway, Peder's mother and step-father had what appeared to be a foster daughter, but she just disappeared off the census records and I have come to a dead-end trying to discover information about her too.

Thought I’d give this a shot, but I’ve had no luck trying to figure it out!
There’s a "private" family tree with Peder in it. They might have a clue. You could try contacting them…..
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=membertrees&am...
All blessings be upon you, Marcy! Leslie Owens wrote the name of his birthplace as Thompson, which sent me off in the wrong direction to Kittson County. Being a California boy, I had no idea about the Minnesota Official Marriage System website. And since Nancy J Owens was born in PA, It looks like that part of the mystery is falling into place very nicely.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

I am looking for information regarding the family of John Lewis Owens (b. 1864, Lancaster, PA) who may have lived in Thompson, Kittson prior to 1895. He was married to Freelove Adelaide Campbell (b.1865, Canada). By 1895, they were living in Virginia, St Louis, MN. By then they had three children, Leslie b.1899; Grace b.1892; and John G, b 1894. However, they have no Marriage record on file in St. Louis County.

What brings me to your neighborhood is that their elder son Leslie indicated on his WWI Draft Registration record that he was born in Thompson in 1899. Could John and Freelove met and married in Kittson County prior to that time? I hope so...

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

I would be happy to give you his name and email address if you would email me back at twoazbeagles@cox.net. I also have an obituary of Willis Lilliquist, born in 1915 if this fits into your genealogy.

Thinking we may be in some distant way related. Siblings of Johan August were: Carl, Gustaf, Caroline, Ida Martina, and Axel Wilhelm. Do any of these names ring a bell?

Hoping this info is of help.
Thank you! I hope it is the right church. If so I would also like to know its name and if it's still there.

Jonas Matthias Andersson (may be with one s):
Born 2 Mar 1863 in Jämtland, Sweden. (Tåsjö parish)
Came to USA about 1889.
Married Hilma E Rundberg or Ruenberg about 1894.
Died in California in 1956.
7 children: Martha E, Maria Emilia, Alice C, Ralph M, Ruth V, Myrtle E, Valentine May.

I'm looking for the correct spelling of Hilma's maiden name, the names of her parents and where/when she was born, if available. I believe she was born about 1870 somewhere in Sweden but it would be nice to know a little more precisely.

I am also looking for the date of death, date and place of burial for his mother, Martha Jonsdotter (she went by Johnson, I believe, all the time after she moved to USA). About her:
Born 27 Feb 1840 in Jämtland, Sweden. (Ström parish)
Came to USA in June 1903. I believe she lived mainly in Polonia, Roseau.

I am also very anxious to find any mention at all of Jonas' brother Anders Daniel Andersson (of course may be Andrew, etc. in USA). About him:
Born 1862 in Jämtland, Sweden. (Tåsjö parish)
Supposedly came to USA with Jonas but I cannot find any mention of him anywhere.
I am beginning to think something happened to him on the trip, because my grandmother, whose uncle he was, apparently never spoke about him. She lived with Jonas' family when she was young.

Thank you so much for offering to do this. I appreciate it very much!

Thank you so much for checking. I know that she died between 1910 and 1914, and I suspect she was buried in a paupers grave with no stone, if not in Kittson County perhaps back home in IL.

I am doing all the indexes for Kittson County Cemeteries and I have searched for a Sarah Pape/Pope. When creating the cemetery index for St. Vincent, I used the original cemetery burial records and there was no burial for a Sarah Pape. She is also not in any of the other cemeteries in the county. She was living in St. Vincent, Kittson County, MN in the 1910 census and is married but no husband is with her. She is living with her sons John Pape (3 yrs), William Blodgett (21 yrs), Andrew Blodgett (19 yrs) and daughter Bertha Blodgett (11 yrs). All the children were born in IL except for John Pape who was born in MN. I could not find her in the MN death index or ND death index and I tried all spellings of the name. I did find on Find-a-Grave, a Sarah Pope born Oct 1865 who is buried in Texas. Here is the site to check that out http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=po...;
Marcy J.

I am seeking to learn the death date and burial place of Sarah POPE or PAPE, whose maiden name was Claussen. I believe she died in Kittson County between 1910 and 1914. She was born in Illinois in 1865. If anyone has the cemetery books, a lookup would be greatly appreciated.

The Minnesota death index
http://people.mnhs.org/dci
BUSHIE, ALEXANDER WILLIAM
Date of Birth: na
Place of Birth: na
Mother Maiden Name: na
certid# 1938-MN-006863
Date of Death: 07 Nov 1938
County of Death: KITTSON

The Minnesota birth index
http://people.mnhs.org/bci
Bushie, Alexander William
Date of Birth: 18 Oct 1915
Mother Maiden Name: Wodzevoda
certid# 1915-28823
County of Birth: Roseau

I think all the ones on the birth index are related. The mother maiden name is so close on them. Keep in mind. That index was created by people trying to read someone elses handwritting was back then. The one listed as Julins Bushie is most likely Julius Bushie. Think about what a handwritten u and a n look like. And ink quality/pens were not high quality. Some made their own inks.
So you might find more doing a search on various spellings of Bushie.
You might not know where Caribou, MN is located. It is two miles west of Roseau County on hwy 4. The NE corner of Kittson County, MN.
Mike Andrews, USGenWeb volunteer for Kittson County, MN
