Robert Wellnitz passed away February 24, 2005 at the age of 78 with his family at his side.
Bob was born to Emil and Ida Mae Wellnitz on September 2, 1926 in Morton, MN. He worked on the farm with his parents until he was drafted into the Army on November 1945, and served overseas. Upon his return from the war, he met his true love Evelyn Juenemann, they were married on May 18, 1950. Bob shared his life with his wife for almost fifty five years. Bob lived most of his life in Kroschel, Minnesota where he raised his family. He worked the majority of his adult life doing road construction. Bob retired in Sandstone, and could be found on his blue tractor mowing and cultivating for Happy Land Tree Farms. Bob also had a great interest in tending for his sonâ€™s herd of elk. He could always be found outside fixing up old vehicles that he bought and resold. Bob was very active and always there to care for his wife, family, and friends.
He will be sadly missed by many.
Bob l eaves behind his wife and true love Evelyn of Sandstone; six children, Sandra (Ken) Olson of Sandstone, Robert (Brenda) Wellnitz of Sandstone, Betty (Gary) Volk of Sandstone, Scott (Rosella) Ellnitz of Mora, Judy (Denny) Doveau of Sandstone, Craig Wellnitz of Kansas; one brother James Wellnitz of Morton; twelve grandchildren, Johana Olson, Kenny Jr. (Myra) Olson, Jennifer Johnson, Teri (Keith) Herman, Jeremy Coveau, Troy Coveau, Kimberly Wellnitz, Seth Wellnitz, Brian Heesaker, Erica Heesaker, Amanda Hesesaker, Jeremiah Heesaker, Katie Volk; five great grandchildren; Rowan and Baden Hilty, John Herman, Gavin Keehr, Brianna Heesaker.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents Emil and Ida Wellnitz, and sister Arlene Gallery.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Feb. 28, 2005 at St. Johnâ€™s Lutheran Church in Kroschel with Rev. Michael Breach officiating. Interment will be at Friesland Cemetery at a later date.
