Dagney Lorraine Lingen died Sunday, September 10, 2006, at her home in Hinckley. She was 68 years old.
Dagney was born August 27, 1938 in St. James to George and Francis Nelson. After high school, she moved to Minneapolis and opened the "Coney Island" bar. In 1970 she and husband Gary Lingen moved to Mora and opened a resort called "Gary's On The Lake". They then opened the "Chalet" restaurant in Braham. They ventured out of the restaurant business and dabbled in real estate before finally openeing the Pawnbroker in Hinckley.
Dagney was an Angel to most people who knew her. She loved her home and also enjoyed the casino.
Dagney was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Gary, and daughter, Mona. She is survived by her son, Greg Lingen of Hinckley; daughter Kory (Dan) Bengtson of Maple Grove; five grandchildren, including Matt Lingen of Hinckley; a great grandson; sister Toupie (Lee) Heslekrants of North Carolina and Maxine (Tom) Bosley of Bloomington; sister-in-law Janice Nelson of Kimball, as well as other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Community Worship Center in Sandstone with Rev. Sam Burch officiating. Honorary casket bearers are Marilyn Tober and Barb McGuire. Visitaion will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
