Delmar M. Benson, age 92, a long time resident of Ogema Township, Pine County, MN died on December 17, 2006 at Capeside Cove Good Samaritan Center at Siren, Wisconsin.
Delmar was born on January 12, 1914 at Pease, Minnesota to George T. and Sarah Benson. At the age of 3 months, Delmar moved with his family by train from Pease to Ogema Township in Pine County, twenty-one miles east of Hinckley. He attended the Bangs Brook School. On February 4, 1935, he married Arvella Swan.
The couple was blessed with four children. After 39 years of marriage, Arvella passed away. In 1976 Delmar married Gladys Peterson. Delmar was town board member, a fire warden, and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Danbury since 1919. He was a hard working man who loved the Lord, family and friends. He always had a sense of wit and humor about him.
He is survived by his children; Jan Hill of Danbury, Robert (Joan) Benson of Hinckley, Bev Benson of Danbury and Gale (Dave) Vayder of Hinckley. Grandchildren; Leanne (Gary) Edinger, Brenda (Jonathan) Hill, Brian (Jamie) Hill, Rob Hill, Steve Benson, Julie (Joe) Patzoldt, Sue (Rich) Dutcher and Jon (Sarah) Benson, Great-grandchildren; Garret and Aubrey Edinger, Nick and Jacob Pisca, Michaela Hill, Mitchell Clark, Maya Hill, Nathan Braski, Jake, Alishea, Kali and Brooke Dutcher.
Delmar is preceded in death by his parents, wife Arvella, his second wife, Gladys, son-in-laws: Lee Hill and Dave Kraemer; sisters Nellie Rosenwald, Elizabeth, Stiebner and Virginia Gilbert.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Danbury with Pastor John Siedschlag officiating. Interment was at the Ogema Township Cemetery in Ogema Township, Pine County, MN. The Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home of Webster assisted the family with the arrangements.
