The info I found was at the Minnesota Historical Society in St Paul. The LDS family history centers have microfilm. Some centers have film on long term loan that might have what you are looking for. Most of what I want is to look at the church records from Finland. That info is not at any of the local history centers so I order microfilm from Salt Lake City. I do not think they have newspaper film for ordering. They have church records from other countries, US census films. You could check at a local LDS center and they can help you with requesting what you are looking for. check the familysearch.org site for a church close to you and for their hours. You might have to register for someportions of their site, but there is no charge. You could also check familysearch.org/films.

The next time I go to the MNHS I will search again for Mrs Sabin if i have time. As she died in Duluth, there should be an obit. I don't remember what her residence was. If I remember correctly she was buried atGreenwood cemetery which I think was located in Superior, WI. If she resided in Superior, they may have a copy of an obit but the MNHS does not carry Superior papers.
Kathy

I have never been to one and need to stop at the one that is closest to me, but just haven't gotten there yet and not sure what to expect to find.

It's taken a while, but I found an obit for Blanche Lucas. She passed away in Sioux Falls SD which is why I could not find a death record for her. She is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in pipestone. At the time, she was survived by a daughter in Spokane, 3 sons - CA, MN, NY, a sister in Oregon, 7grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. I have not yet found an obit or Mrs lou Sabin.

I disagree. It seems to fit right in nicely.

It refers to the career of “this” George Rae, Jr. beginning with the second paragraph. It states he came to this country in 1881 where he began working his trade in Wisconsin (where Anna was stated to have been born) and then continued it in Sioux Falls and then Dell Rapids. (2 more children stated to have been born in SD) Then to Jasper in 1890. (4 children born in Minnesota, plus they had 1 child born in Scotland before they immigrated)

It was George Sr. & his wife Barbara (George Jr.’s parents) that went to Dell Rapids and then to Jasper.

I’ve never seen a Minnesota marriage certificate that lists parent’s names.
Reading the Bio it leads one to believe they came from Scotland to Dell Rapids and then to Pipestone. My quantry is this: Daughter Anna Rae lists her birth place as Wisconsin which does not "fit" if they came to the Pipestone area.

I am just trying to determine if she really was the daughter of George and Annie and if she listed her birthplace incorrectly or if she was born in Wisconsin and perhaps not a daughter of George and Annie.

Iowa always listed the names of the parents on a marriage application.

In Minnesota it’s unlikely that the marriage certificate will list parent’s names.

Taking a cue from where they were married, in Pipestone County, and seeing that the birth of their 1st child was in Pipestone County, I looked to see if I could find Anna living there before they were married.

I believe I found her on the 1895 MN State Census and the 1900 Federal Census:

1895 Jasper, Pipestone County, MN (Rae)
George, 1856 Scotland
Ann, 1858 Scotland
Annie M, 1884 WI
-several children listed-

1900 Eden, Pipestone County, MN (Ray)
George, Jan 1856 Scotland (immig 1881)
Anna, Sept 1858 Scotland (immig 1880)
Anna, Jan 1884 WI
-several children listed-

(birth of 2 children in 1886 & 1888 were in SD)

Death
name:	George Rae
event:	Death
event date:	02 Jun 1926
event place:	Pipestone, Minnesota
certificate number:	011653
certificate year:	1926

Will Records
name:	George Rae Senior
titles & terms:	Sr
will year:	1926
record place:	Pipestone, Minnesota
record type:	Will Books
volume:	Will Records Volume B 1919-1933

Death
name:	Annie Mitchell Rae
gender:	Female
death date:	15 Jan 1924
death place:	Jasper, Pipestone, Minnesota
age:	65
birth date:	1859
marital status:	Married
spouse's name:	Geo.
I would contact the Recorder http://www.pipestone-county.com/departments/recorder/ they are in charge of all vital records in pipestone they also do help with some look ups and questions email them and ask. I know they will send you a copy for a fee but they may tell you the answer your looking for just by contacting them. I cant say for sure. Every place is different.

Knowing the location may make it more likely they help you.
This Certificate number is thru MOMS but to order it sends you right to the recorder. So this may be the exact location the recorder would need to find the document you want.
MN County PIPESTONE
Certificate # BOOK V, PAGE 234
Date 1/28/1978
Groom's Name MANITZ, GREG WILLIAM
Bride's Name STUERMER, RHONDA MAY
Her husband, Ray or Roy, died in 1954, I believe.

Also hoping maybe there is one for possibly her mother, Lou Sabin, who died in July, 1931 in St Louis, MN. I found this Mrs Lou Sabin in the MN death records with no info, so not sure if it is "my" Lou-full name, Mary Lucinda-Sabin.

Thanks.

Robert Rae Dies Here Last Night Of Long Illness-Has Resided Continuously In Jasper For Over 40 Years-Robert Rae, kindly and highly regarded resident of Jasper for more than 40 years, died at his home here at 10 o'clock last evening, (Wednesday), June 5, after an illness of more than six months. He had been a patient and uncomplaining sufferer during his long illness of cancer. Final rites will be held Friday afternoon, with short services from his late home at 2 o'clock and from the Presbyterian church at 2:30 o'clock. Rev. E. C. Reineke pastor of the Methodist at Pipestone will officiate. Interment will be in the Jasper cemetery. Robert Rae was born April 14, 1874, at Aberdeen, Scotland; and was past 61 years of age at the time of his demise. As a young man, he came to Dell Rapids, from Scotland, and more than 40 years ago arrived in Jasper. This village has been his home continuously since. He was united in marriage to Jessie Wilson of Jasper, at Sioux Falls, on May 29, 1893, and they established their home here immediately after. Four children were born to this union, all of whom survive. They are Robert Jr., of Medford, Oregon; Alfred of Jasper, Edward of Rochester, and Ethel of Jasper. Mr. Rae joined the Presbyterian church in Scotland and when he came here transferred his membership to the local church. He was a devoted christian and a loving husband and father, sacrificing willingly in behalf of those he loved.
