Classification: Query
Surnames: KARROW, Hanks, Henkes, Karow
My search for Karrow ancestors has led me to Rice County, MN. There are Karrows listed in the Riverside Cemetery records in Morristown who may be related to those from Chautauqua County, NY; originally from Germany. I am only basing this on dates and given names and the limited information I have been able to find on the Karrow name.
My connection is John E. Karrow, born 1862 in Germany, settled in Westfield, Chautauqua County, NY in the late 1800's. Wife's name was Minnie, b. 1862. Children: John E.Jr b 1880/83 in Germany; August "Gus" b.1884; Frederick Theodore b. 1889; Otto (or Edward?) b. abt 1890; Wilhelmina Louise "Minnie" b. 1893 and Monnie (Emmanuel?) b. 1895.
Two of the Karrows in Rice Co. are Augusta Karrow b. 1830 d. 3/12/1905, sp. Frederich L., nee Burger? And August Karow (Karrow) b. 3/25/1865 d. 2/11/1955. sp Louise Young, parents, Augusta Burger Karrow. Mar Aug 13, 1896.
If anyone can provide additional information on the Rice County family, such as how they arrived in Minnesota, ancestors, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. Also, due to connections from Germany to NY I am interested in information on Hanks (Henkes) families in Rice County and how they arrived there.
Thank you, Helen
