I am searching for ANY connections to Alex Melen, who emigrated from Sweden in 1891, leaving his wife Ida Sophie Johnson behind. She came, with their newborn son, Carl Birtrunde Adolf Melen in 1893.

The family seems to have changed the surname to Melin or Mellin by 1900. Ida Sophie's parents, Otto R. Johnson and margaret (unknown) came to American and lived with them in 1900.

Alex was a carpenter, and had 6 known children:

Carl Birtrunde Alolf, who changed his name to Charles Bert Mullen, born in Sweden in 1892.

The rest of the children were all born in Duluth:

Gilbert Gustave Mellin, born 1895, married Jannie Swan
Arthur A. Mellin, b. 1897, died in France in 1918
George Roy (or Roy George), b. 1902, married Mary
Ruth Charlotte, b. 1904
Edna Margaret, born 1907
