My mother, Margaret M Noonan (Mrs. Robert L Lageson of Benson) who died in Sept 1998, was born in May 1921 and grew up in De Graff. She spoke of trips to Murdock and McGovern's store. He father, Cornelius Noonan, was a rural mail carrier out of the Murdock post office. Her mother was Ellen "Nelly" O'Brien, daughter of Patrick O'Brien & Mary Highland. On her father's side were three William Noonans that I know of - Mom's grandfather, uncle (Morris, MN) and brother (Col. USAF WWII; Amarillo, TX USPS; Denver, CO area, died Oct 1998). Her mother's sister, Anne married a McQuaid (Frank?) who had a place just north of town, and I believe ran a saloon in De Graff until Prohibition, then moved to MT. Mom has an older sister and brother-in-law (taught school in De Graff) who live in St. Cloud, MN, as well as a number of cousins still living around MN.
