I'm interested in the surname Fisher.

William born 1842 in Germany, his wife Louise or Lizzie born 1850 in Germany. The family is listed in the 1880 US Census as living near Bertha.

They had several children: John (born 1873), William (born 1876), Amelia (born 1876), Ida (born 1878), Tresea (or Theresa)(born 1880), Charlie/Charles, August, Mary, Fred and Ernest.

I believe Charlie and Ernest were life-long Todd County area residents.

I would be happy to share what I have. My husband is a Hill and his line comes from Martha Buss (sister to John Buss and daughter of Dolly and Charles E. Buss). I need to go through my research, but somewhere I have record of Ruby's mother's death with the cause of death. That is about all I know on Ruby. I do have information on John W. Buss's other marriages. As far as the Stebbins line, I have information on parents and grandparents for Dolly and Charles. I need to go through my records. Let me know specifics of what you're interested in.

My connection is through James Owen Owen, Ruby's husband, so I haven't research the Buss family.James's mother, Euphemia " Effie " Stevenson was my gg aunt, sister to my gg grandfather Donald Stevenson.
I also have a connection to Dorothy Dolly Stebbins, Charles's wife.
I checked records for the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Eagle Bend, MN. It shows that William W. Andrus was born 28 June 1880 and died 26 April 1901. Many of the military markers have disappeared since his death so I can't tell you about his military history. But most of the early burials were Civil War Vets.

I found a Stebbins family in the 1870 census in Todd County with a Alice the right age. Do you know anything about this Stebbins family. Do you know who this Alice married? Joseph and Alice Robidou moved to Bismark North Dakota about 1880.

Garland surname

Hello, I am looking for the family of Benjamin and Elizabeth Garland. Benjamin died 7 Nov 1923 in Todd Co., MN (not sure what town, but I think Stowe Prairie), and his wife died 23 Dec 1923. They are buried in Hewitt Cemetery. There Grandson Lawrence Garland died 25 Sep 1912. He was born in Jan 1912. And also buried in Stowe Prairie. Then there is Ralph Garland and his wife Rose buried there. Anyways Benjamin and Elizabeth lived there. And there son James Garland lived there with his family for some time. Im looking for any information when they lived there, other Garlands buried in Hewitt Cemetery in Stowe Prairie. Anything about them in papers like obits maybe. What life was like between 1900-1920 in the area.

Clarks in Todd County

My g-g-gfather is Francis Eugene Clark, b. 1864 in New York to Scotch-Irish parents, moved to MN and settled in Todd County, married Lavina Scott and had 10 children from 1889-1912, when he died suddenly. The family lived in Burnhamville Township, near Burtrum, and I'm seeing a couple other Clark families at that time near Burtrum and Grey Eagle. Does anyone know of a connection between these Clarks? I do not know when Francis came to MN or whether he had siblings, but the possibility that family came with him to Todd County is intriguing.
I do know about Alice Stebbins. She was the daughter of Joel C. & Margaret Stebbins. She was the half sister to William Wallace Stebbins who married my gg aunt Chloe Stone. I have not done research on Alice because she is not a direct relitive. A lot of her relitives did live in Bismarck, ND but didn't stick around. most went to Washington state, My Stebbins went to western Montana and Washington. I see that Joseph and Alice were back in Minnesota in 1900, Wilkens county. ( Robidieu )

Do you have Francis Clark's obit? I wonder if it mentions siblings. I see the MHS has the Swanville News for 1912 and the Long Prairie Leader (the county seat) or the Todd County Argus. It appears from the MN Death Certificate index he died in Morrison County so perhaps the Little Falls newspaper would contain data also. Sadly, their holdings of the Grey Eagle Gazette don't begin until later.

I would be happy to review those newspapers for you but I do charge for my time, copying and mailing expenses if newspaper entry if located.

I grew up in Todd County but near Browerville, not Grey Eagle/ Burtrum/ Swanville area but I have done research for clients with family in that area. I currently live in St Paul.

I do family history research. I worked for the Minnesota Historical Society for a number of years and know their holdings well.

Please contact me if you are interested.
Thank you for your time.
Ron Kurpiers
rkurpiers@earthlink.net

I am trying to locate the graves of Daniel Erving (30 June 1861 Cedar co., IA d 9 Feb 1932 Burlene, Todd co., MN) and Fannie Eliza Highly Ridenour (4 Apr 1865 Cedar co., IA d 5 Feb 1957 Springfield, Brown co., MN). Their obits state they were buried at Evergreen cemetery, but from what I can find, there seems to be a couple Evergreen cemeteries. At least there is on findagrave. The Todd co genweb site doesn't list an Evergreen cemetery. Any suggestions???

Re: Motzko

Looking for information about my great grandparents Andrew and Sophia Motzko which I understand are buried in Browerville. The death certificate for Sophia does not say which cemetery. We know Sophia died in October 1933, but do not know the exact time for Andrew. He appears on the 1900 census, and then Sophia shows as a widow on the 1910, so he probably died during that decade, possibly before 1908. Would love to know where they are buried and when Andrew died. Also, if you have any information about Andrew's family in Poland, that would be fabulous.
Thanks!!
