I know my great-grandfather immigrated from Bohemia to the U.S. in the early 1900's. His name was Joseph Veith. He immigrated to Washington, D.C. where all of our Veith family lives now. He had three children. His son Joseph (my grandfather) had 7 children. Almost all of our family has stayed in the D.C. area. Legend has it that my great-grandfather fled the the German army to England (changing his last name from Vieth to Veith). There he met my great-grandmother on a boat headed to Ellis Island. I know next to nothing about our Bohemian heritage or any particular area of Bohemia where he might be from.
