> "Access is through the Hennepin County library. You need a library card to access."
A library card to just about any US library will do the same. (I'm unfamiliar with other nations' libraries, but this could also be true elsewhere). Most libraries have a subscription to one or more historic newspaper databases such as Proquest. Many public library databases can be accessed remotely; log in with your library card number and pin number. For expanded databases you can buy a subscription to a historic newspaper database such as Fold3. Chronicling America is an online historic newspaper database of the Library of Congress, very incomplete, but free and user friendly and you may find some family references there.
