John Roberts the son was born in 1797 in villa Gayoso which would eventually turn into Jefferson county, the priest was resided in the area. the Roberts family was catholic.

John Roberts Sr. was born in Culpepper, Va, his parents were Benjamin and Nancy Anne Duncan. He settled in the Mississippi territory around 1787. He left the area and returned with three sons, James, Isaac and William Roberts. He married Mary Montford Calvin in 1790 after the death of her husband Frederick Calvin. closest known associate and son in law of Mary Calvin Roberts was James steward, he married her and Frederick daughter Lucretia around 1792.

John Roberts sr. and Mary Roberts were the God Parents for the first son of James and Lucretia steward, James Duncan Stewart. John left slaves in his will for James Duncan.

John Roberts the son, married Lucinda Arnold in Amite, in 1815, first child was born, Mary Elizabeth Roberts, Son born in 1817, John Roberts III. In 1819 Adams census show John Roberts II living alone. 1820 John Roberts is gone, but also James Stewart and family. James Stewart was found in Rapides Parish Nachadogches, La on January 1, 1820.
