I am uncertain if my Young queston falls in the category of your Young family as the Young family I search is and around the newly formed Humphreys County, MS. Your opinion as I will take a peak at your census notes. I am in search for a connection to the Young family as I have a 1880 Holmes County MS census with a Grandparents listed as John Hatter born 1845 Ireland and Mrs J born 1855 MS with children Johnnie born MS , Mary (Mollie)born MS, and babe born 1863 MS. Babe has been identifed as Grandparent Josie Hatter Howard wife of William S Howard marriage date Aug 17, 1896 Washington County MS while Mary A/Mollie has been identified as Molllie Hatter Hagan wife of Uncle Dave or David Hagan marriage date 1895 Wasington County MS (have marriage record). John Hatter's trade was a raftsman. The entry directly above him on census is an Ed Young born 1860 MS a raftsman as well. In the 1900 census, Babe/Josie can be found in Sunflower County with husband William S Howard and their son Arther. The household next to them is if I can read it properly a farmer by the name of Martin Young born abt 1851 MS. William S Howard would die by the 1910 census and one of Martin's sons, John R Young would be head of house for Josie and her small children quite a task for such a young gentleman. Josie would later die after she and John R Young had a son together as it is not known the exact date of her death. John R Young and Josie are found on a 1910 census back in the Tchula Holmes County area with step children for him. The Young family played a role in Josie's descendants as one Rev Anderson Young would marry her great grandchild and many of the Young's were called Uncle Tom and so on. It is not known if this is out of respect due to that 'time' or if there is a family connection. I have been reviewing census trying to see if Ed and Martin are brothers with a sister born in 1855 (Mrs J). I have found one census with a Margaret born 1855 and another with a Mary born abt 1854/1853. Do you have any information? Or do think I may be possibly grasping or simply drawing conclusions here? Thank you in your input and honesty, cindyc120 Cindy Marshall
