I've read these posts with interest. James A. Matthews (b.1840), a son of James B. Matthews and his wife, Abigail Reynolds, is my great-great grandfather. I am interested in the entire family, but I am working to find when he died and where he is buried, as well as the name of his wife. He and his brother Thomas served together in the Civil War (20th Mississippi, then 2nd Mississippi Partisan Rangers). James A. appears in the 1850 and 1860 censuses with his parents, and then clearly in his wartime service record, and in the Vaiden precinct in the 1880 census (Jas A Mathis). His wife is reported there simple as "ST." I have seen the work of researchers who give her first name as "Seline," but I have seen no evidence for that. Anyone who has any suggestions, please let me know!
