No, the Indians in Northeast Mississippi after 1836 had to live under white man's laws if they were not on a reservation. There were Indian censues. If they were in Chickasaw County after 1940 they were on a white man's list. Indians had until the 1920's to prove they were Indians and get on the Daw's Rolls. My ancestor did not do that so I have no documentation but we knew she was 1/2 Indian and I am sure you do to but it is going to be very hard to prove. Good luck.
