Surnames: JONES, MURRHEAD (MOREHEAD, MUIRHEAD)
My gg-grandparents were Jeremiah and Parthenia Jones. Jeremiah was in Panola Co., MS in 1840 & 1850 with 1st
wife, Nancy P. & children Margaret J., Mary A., John A., and James H.D., and in Choctaw Co., MS by 1860 with
new wife and baby, William A. Jones, and a 9 yr. old male,
Absolom Murrhead (Moorhead? Muirhead?). John A. and James
H. D. are also with them. John A.Jones was supposed to
have been killed at a horse race. We do not know Parthenia's
maiden name. This family was in Attala Co., MS by 1870.
We have nothing after 1850 on Margaret J. and Mary A. Jones.
Does anything look familiar? Does anyone have info on horse
racing in Choctaw Co.? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
