You might examine William Pitts Chambers' diary closely to see if he mentions interaction between the two units. I have spent a lot of time examining it but my main interest has been trying to determine death dates and other information about the soldiers of the 46th. The diary is included in the Publications of Mississippi History vol 5 or the book Blood and Sacrifice.
