Around 1978, under a garage apartment where we lived on Shell Belt Road in Bayou La Batre, Alabama, I found a store token dated July 1898. The store token was issued by the Green Co. Lumber Company located in Bexley, Mississippi and was good for one dollar in merchandise at the company's store (non-transferrable). I spoke with some of the decendants of the store owner years ago, but have forgotten who these people were. I wish I could contact them so that I cold get some infomration on the store and its owner since I'm sure Uncle Angus (my great-grandfather's brother) more than likely shopped there.
