I am looking for the same surname.
I have a great grandfather by the name of Alvison Harris who was born in Mississippi about 1889. I think I found 1 record from 1900 census in Holmes County. He had a rather large family and I think his father's name was Bob Harris. In this record has has several brothers and sisters including: Lucy, Dock, Shaddock, cela, etc... the penmanship is very poor but I am almost positive that is him. He married in mississippi and had about 3 kids and later remarried in Crittenden county, Arkansas of which this marriage produced my grandmother.
He died about 1936 so his kids barely remember him. His wife remarried to a Clay. His background is a real mystery.
