I am looking for information regarding the date and circumstances of the death of Col. D. W. C. (DeWitt Clinton) Bonham. Internet sites list him as dying at Camp Beauregard, Kentucky, in the winter of 1861-62. Family letters, however, place him in Issaquena & Warren Counties, Mississippi, as late as the summer/fall of 1863, fleeing Union troops. Someone once told me that there was an obituary in the Memphis newspapers that stated that Col. Bonham's body had been sent back to his plantation in Mississippi. Can anyone tell me where I might obtain a copy of the obituary?
