My Alexanders came to Jasper Co., MS, about 1845 from
Mecklenburg Co./Cabarrus Co., NC. Many settled in
Montrose but moved about to Learned, Hinds Co., MS,
Bay Springs, MS, Jones Co., MS, etc. East of Montrose
are Mt. Pisgah and Smithtown communities, where a lot
of Smith and McCarty relatives lived.
I have ancestors back to mid 1600's in this country and
back further in Ireland and Scotland. Will exchange info
with anyone. My grandfather was Albert Campbell Alexander, and father was his son, Albert, Jr., as he was
called. He, and at times, we kids, attended Montrose
public school. He and my mom, Keppel McCarty, met at
French Camp on the Natchez Trace.
I am also v. interested in a Vera (Underwood) Smith who
was b. at Smith Co., MS, and the daughter of Samuel T.
Underwood and his wife, Emma Vera Alexander. Emma Vera Alexander was the daughter of my Flernoy Alexander of Jasper Co. He was a brother to Christopher Columbus and son to Marcus Sherman Alexander. I know that we have a bunch of relatives around the area.
We are kin to high profile folks like Pres. James Knox Polk,
Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama, Isaac Shelby twice
gov. of KY, Nathaniel Alexander, early gov. of N.C., etc.
Generals, Colonels, Captains, and the like are all in our
free, if interested in DAR, etc.
Let's talk! Thanks, Mac Alexander of Cypress, TX (Houston).
