I grew up in Tupelo in the 1970s, and remember a large, red-brick house all the kids called the Mitchell Mansion. I can't remember anyone ever living there while I was growing up, and, of course, it had all the usual haunted house rumors surrounding it. I think I remember learning later that it had been used as a hospital during the Civil War. The house burned down in the mid-70s. Does anyone have any further information on the Mitchell Mansion?
