I am trying to find out about Nashville, Mississippi a town located about 12 miles south of Columbus in Lowndes County in the 1830s. I have a journal of my great-grandfather, Isaac Easterly, a Methodist Circuit Rider, who moved there in November - December 1836. In his journal he gave the above directions and said he found a house and a shop. He said, "the village is situated on the Tombigly (Tombigee) River twelve miles below Columbus in a wealthy and fertile part of the country."
