Seeking information on Minerva Green, born Feb 1877 in Madison County, MS to Mary Green. Father unknown. Minerva is listed with her Mother, Mary Green and 1/2 sister Pernina on the 1880 Madison County, Beat 4, south half, Sharon census, directely below the Cheek family, whom Mary worked for. Minerva is listed in Madison County on the 1900 census as a border. After this she no longer appears on any MS state census record. It is report by her half-siblings, that as a result of the fact that Minerva was white and they were mulatto, when she was a young teenage girl, she went to live with a white family in Leake, Co where the family had relocated after being ran out of Madison, CO when her mother had given birth to the 3rd Mulatto child with the same African-American man. It is reported in early 1903 (Jan to Mar), Minerva met a man, and left on a train heading for TX where she married him and had 3 children. She continued to correspond to her family through a friend of the family that she had lived with. All of whom lived in the same community as Mary Green and Minerva's half siblings. Minerva also had a beautiful portrait done and sent it to the family after moving to TX. I have a copy of the portrait. My mother in law told me, her grandmother Pernina (Minverva's 1/2 sister), said the correspondence stopped coming when Minerva died young, in her 40s. Any information would be appreciated. Julie Smith
