Does anyone out there have any information on the slave
uprising/rebellion that took place in the 1860-1863 time frame on the Lenoir Plantation in southern Monroe County.
According to Oral traditon revoltinng slaves killed the owener and several oveerseers and the slave revolt spread to several nerarby plantations berfore being put down.I
found that in the summer of 1863,three men with the name of Blanchard died and they all owned plantations and slaves.
I also had a second cousin who died sevaral years ago tell me that according to oral tradition inhis familiy there was a slave rebellion on a plantation owned by a man with the name of Blanchard and the slave owner was killed in his bed.
