I am looking for any links you may have to members of the Gunter family who lived in Neshoba County, MS early in the 20th century. My grandfather was Fitzhugh Lee (Russ) Gunter. He was born in 1895 in Forrest County, MS. The family moved to Walnut Grove (Leake Co) shortly after he was born. His siblings were:
William Horace (Feb 6, 1880-May 23, 1946)
Van Buren (Apr 21, 1881-Jul 25, 1965)
Fred (Dec 23 1882-Dec 14, 1959)
Charlie Holland (Jul 28, 1884-Feb 5, 1966)
Festus (May 22, 1886-Apr 17, 1962)
Fermon (Dec 17, 1886-Nov ?, 1971)
Inda Mae (Gunter) Winfield (May 24, 1889-Apr 15, 1933)
Mary Ellen (Gunter) Milling (Mollie) Mar 4,1892-Nov 2,
1966)
Enoch Arden (Aug 15, 1893-May 15, 1964)
Coley Myrtle (Gunter) Williamson (Jun 11, 1896- ?, 1992)
Annie (Gunter)Knowles (May 7, 1900-Dec 24, 1971)
Lavon (Aug 15, 1902-Mar 9, 1974)
Lavada (Gunter)Lee (Aug 15, 1902-?)
Many of the family members moved to the AL/MS Gulf Coast to work in the defense industry during WWII.
He lived in Leake and Neshoba Counties as an adult. He was married to Hattie Bell Milling in early 1900's. His father was George O. (nickname: Joe) Gunter who was a Confederate veteran (Cherokee) who was born in NC and enlisted in the Confederate Forces while living in Citronelle (Mobile Co), Alabama.
