Seeking information regarding Perry County families MARTIN and POSEY, who lived and are buried in and around Brooklyn.
Frances Elmira/Elvira (Fanny) Martin Brooks Posey (b. circa 1870-80) and her brother Daniel C. (Dan) Martin (b. 1873)are believed to be children of Caleb Martin and Lucinda Breland. (Lucinda Breland gets many website mentions regarding her later marriage to Hugh Lambert c. 1864, but I find no hits at all for Frances or Dan/Daniel Martin.)
Caleb Martin had many brothers and sisters, and through one of them there may be a cousin/aunt named ALICE MARTIN, who married WASHINGTON VAN POSEY (b. 1857 d. 1897), son of Richard Forman Posey (b. 1839 Montgomery Cty AL d. 1911 Forrest Cty MS). I am finding no hits for Alice Martin or Washington Van (called Van) Posey.
Fanny Martin married (1) Arthew Brooks and had one daughter, Mae/May (b. 1901), then Arthew was killed. Fanny married (2) Rufus Rankin (Rufe) Posey (b. 9 Oct 1881, d. 1961) and had two more daughters, Ruby Gertrue/Gertrude Posey Strother (b. 1906, d. 1971, buried at Bond with husband George Edward Strother, b. 1895, d. 1971) and Edna Posey Sistrunk (b. 1911). Also had two infant sons who died, Willie Dee and (?), one of accident and one of disease.
The connection between Alice Martin, who was Rufe Posey's mother, and Frances Martin, who was Rufe's wife, is unclear, but there is suspicion that they were related somehow.
All help appreciated greatly.
