James P. HILL and wife Lillian Bermelia Cook HILL. He was a physician, born July 1872. She was born 19 Nov 1873, Marion Co. MS, died Dec 9, 1900 (probably in Perry Co.) They appear in 1900 census in Beat 5 Perry Co. boarding with the Andrew Hartfield family. Lillian was the eldest sister of my wife's father but we have no other information about her or him. They probably married in 1899 or early 1900. Any information would be appreciated.

James Sr. born 1764 not sure exactly where so this is my brick wall. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Also researching the Freeman family. Janet "Jennie" Freeman (wife of Silas Simmons) was said to have been raised by a family named Brown, some have said she was from the McCardle family and it is also believed she was a Chactaw Indian. In 1870 in Perry Co. Ms. Matilda Pierce was 74 years old, real estate value as $50.00 and keeping house had 3 family living in one house . Deminus Pierce 25 listed as farm hand and female ? (2) family I belived to be her daugther Virginia Young 34 and Virginia three children Cynthia 9, Washington 7 and Joan ( Delia ) 3 third family Mary Chappel 14 farm hand . Must have been a large house.
So George Pierce might have been her husband ? What family did he come from ? What about the name Chappel ? This seem Matilda only married one time? Who was Deminus?

She had a brother, Dewey Ammons, who was a cook in the Army in WWII.
She had a sister, possibly named Lillian, who had 2 daughters named Alice and Fay.
Her parents lived in Beaumont.

Mattie married James L. Munson of Madisonville, LA and moved to Louisiana in the 1920's. She died in New Orleans in 1943.

I am trying to find information about a Benjamin W. Griffing who is buried in the New Augusta Cem. in Perry County. Is this Benjamin W. the same as Benjamin Whitfield Griffing who was born in Claiborne County Mississippi on Oct. 9, 1879? The dates for Benjamin W. Griffing who is buried in New Augusta Cemetery are: b. Oct. 1879 d. Mar. 01, 1953.
I am trying to determine what happened to my husband's great aunt Ida May Lusk Griffing's first husband. In 1918 there was a Benjamin Whitfield Griffing who registered for the WW1 Draft in El Paso Co TX who stated his wife was Ida May Griffing. I traced this Benjamin Whitfield Griffing back to Claiborn Co Mississippi. I do not know for certain if the Griffing couple divorced or if Mr. Griffing died early on in their marriage. Ida and Mr. Griffing did have one son named Henry W. Griffing b. abt. 1905 in Mississippi. Any help will be much appreciated.

I live out of state and can't find anything on the internet.

Hugh B. Lambert married Eliza Frances Unknown.

They were married on the 1880 census with a 7-month old born in January. My guess is they were married in (March/April) 1879 or even in 1878.

I've been told Eliza Frances was a Boone/Boon and her parents were Daniel and Sarah, but I'd like to find some kind of documented proof Eliza Frances was a Boone to make sure I'm pursuing the right line.

Hugh is the son of James Thaniel Lambert and Sarah W. Tilly. His family lived in Perry Co., MS from at least 1830 on.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

by his neice Rebecca Brown. Thomas has no dates on his CSA stone, but in the Pascagoula library, I found a book by Richard S. Roman 'Civil War Soldiers of Perry Co MS' his
birth & death dates (Jan 1, 1844 - Sep 13, 1926).

John C. Dixon and his wife Sabra Boydston were on the 1850 Neshoba County, Mississippi, census and are buried there. One daughter, Mary E., married William Henry 'Bud' Houston. Her brother, Jesse Valentine Dixon, born January 20, 1852, married Bud's sister, Mary Jane Houston. Mary Jane died relatively early and Jesse married again in Perry County, Matilda Easterling, Feb 1 1899. I am interested in corresponding with anyone who might know something about this family. I know that most of the family photos we have of the Houstons were taken by Jesse, who was a traveling photographer.

My gggpa Simeon Young m. Margaret Angelina Hensarling in Perry Co. in 1860. She was about 14 yrs. old. In 1870 they are living in Jones Co., with a daughter Margaret M. who is 13 (wife Margaret A is only 24). In 1910 they are living in Lamar Co. and the census reports that Simeon has been married twice and Margaret A. only once.
Does anyone know who his first wife was and if the daughter Margaret M. was from that first marriage. Appreciate any help.

I am looking for information on the parents, grandparents, etc. of William Wesley Walley and Sarah Jane Landrum. They were married in Perry County on July 9, 1911. Sarah was born in 1897, but I don't have the date of birth for William. They had two sons, William Edward Walley and James Ray Walley. They also had three daughters, Willie Pearl Walley, Beatrice Walley, and Lois Walley. William Wesley was killed by a falling tree sometime in early 1940's. Sometime after his death Sarah moved the family to Charleston, SC. She died in 1973. I know that Sarah had at least two sisters, Gillie (Unknown if this was a nickname or actual)who married a Laurendine. The other sister was Bert, who marrried Ernest Whitehead. I do not have any information as to whether William had any brothers or sisters. Any information was be greatly appreciated.

Benjamin PHILLIPS and Martha REAVES BAZOR married in Clarke County, AL about 1851. By 1860 they were in Wayne County, MS and I have been told that they lived on or near the county line with Perry. Benjamin had children D. F., who married Martha Sumrall MCILWAIN (children Ella and Amanda?)Mary (b. 1843)and B.F.P?. Martha had sons Nathan and Eli BAZOR. Was Amanda the daughter of Martha Mcilwain and her first husband or was she the daughter of Ben and Martha Phillips?

My Mary Phillips was born about 1857. Family history says she was the half sister of Nathan and Eli Bazor and in fact she was living with Nathan's family on the 1880 census. Is she the daughter of Ben and Martha Phillips? Where were they on the 1870 and 1880 census? Were the Nathan and Eli PHILLIPS born abt 1860 the sons of Ben and Martha or DF and Martha?

Mary had a son, Frank PHILLIPS, who was born before she married Jackson WALLEY. Frank married Mary Ann COOLEY, daughter of Lazarus COOLEY and Susan REEVES. Were Susan REEVES and Martha REAVES Bazor Phillips related? How?

Finally, Lazarus COOLEY was the son of Albert and Mary. Was Mary's maiden name BUSBY and was she really the sister of the Emma June BUSBY who married Nathan Bazor?

I know this is a lot of information. Can anyone make it less confusing? Thanks.

I was checking the Perry Co. Website for the Simmons Family and I saw a great many HINTONS in Perry County. I wondered if any of the Hinton family may have moved to Jasper Co. MS. my g.uncle MALCOLM T. PRICE b.1857 d.Mar.9,1844 married ELIZABETH HINTON 1877 in Jasper Co. Their son was W.T.Price. I cannot find them in the census after 1880. I am looking for a John, Thomas or possibly Alfred TUCKER that might have been living in Mississippi before 1845. The Tucker I am looking for might have married an Elizabeth Badeau from LA or MS. At one time we thought we had them connected to Jane Humphry, but that is not correct.
John Jefferson Tucker was born in 1845 in McComb, MS, the son of the above query.J.J. Tucker married (in 1875) Anneta Whitcomb of Covington St. Tam., LA. JJ. and Anetta named one of their sons, Thomas Brinsfield Tucker. There might be a Brinsfield connection. We are having a devil of a time finding out about his parentage. Family lore is very confusing and contridictory!

Can anyone help me identify the parents of Arminta A. IKERD, born 12 Oct 1879, died 24 Feb 1899, buried in the Jake Alone cemetery, Dixie community, Forrest County, MS? She married Andrew Jackson "Andy" Ikerd, who most likely was from Jackson Co., MS, near Ocean Springs, and apparently died following childbirth. The infant was born and died 17 Jan 1899 and is buried adjacent to Arminta. One souce has passed along information given to him years ago that gives Arminta's maiden name as Aramenta Haynes. Andrew J. Ikerd married 2nd Cynthia Enola McInnis; they and their children are enumerated in the Perry Co., MS censuses for 1910, 1920, and 1930. Andrew died in 1933 (is he buried in Perry Co.?). The information is needed to complete a history of the Dixie community and all clues will be appreciated.

I'm working on a genealogy project which includes pictures of my ancestors and have no idea where I might could find pictures of Benjamin & Sarah...am open to any suggestions. Since Sarah didn't pass away until 1944, it seems highly likely that someone would have pictures of her...the chances of one of Benjamin existing is possible but slimmer odds.

Hi, Was looking through the rootsweb marriage records and came across this couple. They were married Jan 13, 1882 in Perry Co.,Ms. I am VERY interested in Andrew J. Dickens. I have an A.J. Dickens,b.1861,probably in Covington Co,Ms. According to some sources,he was the son of Catherine Graves Dickens of Cov. Co.,Ms.,but I'm doubtful of that since she would have been 61 when he was born.I think he was the son of her dau.Sophia Dickens, who was living with her at the time. I don't know if Sophia ever marr. or not, if so, she marr. a Dickens since that is the way she shows up on the 1860 Cov.
