Am just now seeing your response to my earlier Carter query. My supposition is that Sarah Pew Myers is listed as Sarah Carter in her father's will because she had married Isaac Carter by the time the will was written. I would love to exchange information. billron@bellsouth.net

I saw the family of David Evans and Susanna Rosier, that came from a Bible I believe, that was hand down to William A. Evans. This Bible had the children of David & Susan Evans. It had births, and It could have had marrages or deaths, I don't know. My other email address is ctr76315@centurytel.net. Would like to contact to anyone connected to this Evans family. thanks, Joe.

I believe that George was the son of Lewis and Ann Wooten Pierce. Lewis was a Revolutionary War soldier. George's wife was Matilda Harris, daughter of James or William Harris and Sarah Heath. Matilda's sister Mary Woods Harris married George's half brother Joel Pierce.

It was Virginia Jane who married George Young, not Delia. He was Delia's father.

Here is an interesting source that I found. The things in () are my notes.

MS Cemetery and Bible records
Original owner William Harris, Newton Co., Ms
Children listed were:

Mary Woods Harris born June --, 1788. (wife of Joel Pierce)
David Harris born June 10, 1792.
Martha Harris born Sept. 1, 1794.
Matilda Harris born June 30, 1797.(wife of George Pierce)
'William Harrris born Oct. --, 1801.(neighbor to Seaborn Pierce, Newton Co, MS 1840)
Jeremiah Harris born April 13, 1804.
Jenny Harris born Sept. 9, 1806.
James Harris born Feb. 25, 1809.
In the back of the bible on another sheet was this record.

David Pierce born the 12th of Oct 1805.(this may be the oldest child of Joel's brother Thomas. See his 1820 census)
Redin? Pierce born the 20th of Oct 1807. (Reddick?)

David Pierce Book this 4th Nov 1805.
That was David's mothers name (Ella). From what I've just learned he was born about 2 years before my mother.

Edna Guntner is my Grandmother and she was about 3 weeks pregnant with my mother (Barbara) when Lonnie was killed. That is interesting that they all practiced at your house, what a memory. A few folks up around that area have good stories to share, thank you.

Asa Roberson Carter was her g grandfather.
I would love to gather information including copies of any documentation. I would be glad to pay for the copies and postage or if they could be scanned and sent by e-mail that would work for me also. Whatever is best for the sender.
I have not been able to find the family (Green et.al) in 1870.
Hiram & Permelia/Pamela Hardin-Marion Co. MS 1838

I am a native of Marion County MS and am interested in all aspects of the history of that area of south MS. Today at the MS archives I found documentation about one Hiram Hardin. He was convicted of murder in the death of his wife Pamela/Permelia. A petition was sent to the governor in which Hiram described in detail the events that led to the death of his wife and requested a pardon from the governor to spare him from his sentence to the gallows. In summary, after a night of drinking (19 December 1837) with 2 friends he claimed he unintentionally stabbed his wife in the arm. She lost a substantial amount of blood and died of gangrene after 9 days. His 2 year old child is also discussed in the documents but is not named. The execution was scheduled for Friday 12 April 1839. A petition in favor of leniency was signed by numerous individuals including most members of the jury that convicted him of murder, and others including my 2nd g-grandfather Jackson Hammond and my 3rd-g-grandfather Benjamin Hammond. Another petition signed by a number of local business men opposed a pardon. The decision of the governor could probably be found with further research. I will transcribe the documents and post them to this site for the benefit of those who are researching the Hardin family.

Greg Price
Brandon, MS
