BCJ, If it would be not too much trouble, would you send me everything that
you have on your Pendarvis line. I'll do the same if you care to see
what I have. It's a lot and you might not want all this info that I
have collected over the past 6 years.

I am still stuck at the exact same point...my ggrandfather, Caleb P.
Pendarvis. He was not a man of means and left no paper trail...none
that I can find, anyway. No birth cert., no death cert., no will...like
he never existed. He was born 1860-1862. There is a marriage record
for Caleb P. Pendarvis born 1861-1862 in Wayne Co., Ga. He married
Eliza Manor (Mainor) age 15 in the year 1883.

The problem with this is my ggrandmother's name was Eliza Grantham born
abt 1862-1868 and she married Caleb P. Pendarvis (according to census
data) in 1888.

So, I supposed he could have married Eliza Manor in 1883; perhaps she
died and then he married Eliza Grantham in 1888.?

I have no idea who Caleb's father was. Or if he had siblings. I have
tried to link him with a John William Pendarvis b 4 Apr 1897 in
Escataupa, Ms. In his WW1 records it states that his father was born in
Jacksonville, Fl. My ggrandfather Caleb would sometimes work in Florida
in the early 1900's but it was more in the central part of the state.

There was also a Jack Jones Pendarvis born, 10 Jun 1874...enlisted
Pinellas, Fl. (I don't know what part of the state this is yet). But
it gave no birth place for him.

And finally, I am really interested in Oris Harmon Pendarvis born 20 Aug
1898 and enlisted in Citrus, Fl. This would be more the location of my
relatives. I am interested in him because in the census for my
ggrandparents there is a child listed that no one knows who this could
be. It's hard to read but always looks like "ONIS" or "ANIS". Daddy
knew all his aunts and uncles and hasn't a clue who this could be.
Perhaps it was ORIS and not a child of theirs at all but a realtives
child.

Well, I've rambled on long enough. But, if we keep talking we are ALL
going to finally link all our Pendarvis families. My God, they moved
around more than we do today! I do think that if I can find out the true parentage of
Caleb, then I can link him all the way back to Joseph and Parthenia.

I have a lot of "stray" Pendarvis information that may be of some help
to you. God knows, I hope it helps someone because it sure hasn't done
a thing for me...but I keep it anyway, hoping for a clue or link
somewhere.

Waiting to hear from you,
Connie
