Searching for information on the ancestors and/or siblings of Zachariah Harper Jones. Zachariah was born Dec 1809 in Chesterfield District, SC. His father was Abraham Jones, but his mother's name is unknown. Zachariah moved to Marshall Co., AL with his father and mother. He married Lydia Anderson in Madison County AL on July 9, 1829. They lived in Marshall County AL where all 9 children were born. These children were William A. b Aug 31, 1830, David W. b abt 1832, Reuben Edcana b abt 1834 (my ggfather), Clement C. b abt 1835, James M. b abt 1837, Abraham L. b abt 1839, Lorenzo Dow b July 8, 1842, Francis M. b abt 1844, and Nancy b abt 1846. In 1846, the family moved to Tippah County MS , where Zachariah received a Land Bounty grant. The entire family moved to Bradley Co. AR in 1847. They settled in Pennington Township. William A. Jones married Melissa James on Dec 7, 1854 in Bradley Co. Their children were Laura J., Reuben Lafayette, Sarah D., and Elizabeth A. Most of the William A.'s family eventually moved to Van Buren Co. AR. William A. also married Samantha Chamness Kemp - Dec 20, 1868 (no known issue) and Rachel Susan James - Aug 17, 1870, in Bradley Co. William and Rachel had Joseph C., Mary Ellen, and Rachel Susan. These children may have been born in Bradley or Van Buren Co.
Lydia Anderson died in 1848 in Bradley Co. Zachariah married Elizabeth ? in Bradley County. They had Rebecca b abt 1856 and Oliver S. b Oct 24, 1859. Zachariah died in 1864 in Bradley Co. It is not known where he is buried.
All the Jones brothers served in the Civil War, some on each side and some on both sides! After the War and Zachariah's death, three of the brothers returned to Tippah Co. Reuben, David, and Clement JONES all returned and settled in Tippah Co. David married Augusta Ann McALISTER on Jan. 23, 1860 in Tippah Co. Clement married Ann E. McALISTER on May 24, 1866 in Tippah Co. Reuben married first Margaret BRIDGES on Dec. 13, 1866. After Margaret's death in 1875, Reuben married my ggmother Martha WALKER on Aug. 12, 1875. All but the last of Reuben's 6 children were born in Tippah Co. Reuben moved his entire family to AR winding up in Conway Co.
I would also be interested in corresponding with any descendants of David or Clement JONES.
