Which GWR is yours? Is he the son of Beniah Richardson, or the brother?

I am a Nebraska Cornhusker transplanted to Calif. many many years ago. most of my ancestors were from Richardson Co. Nebraska, Fremont Co. Iowa Holt Co. Missouri. many counties in Indiana and Kansas. I have a George Washington Richardson but no yours. small world huh. if you like you can email me direct. You might say I am a Midwesterner through and through. Originals ancestors from England, France and Germany I am a Heinz 57 variety also cherokee Indian on my moms side no proof but go by what my grandma said she was part Indian and My grandfather English

What part of the world are you from? This Richardson ended up in Dawson, Nebraska where he married my great-grandmother, Sarah Amanda Libbee. He had 5 children with her, one with Louisa, and as James Poffenbarger I think he had 10 with a woman named Amelia Higgs.

If you need any other information, I have some of his Civil War military records that were passed on from a long lost relative that has helped me get started with all of this.

He's actually my great-grandfather, but that won't make any difference. :)

His name was George Washington Richardson. You will find him in the 1885 Nebraska State Census in Avoca, Ne. He is recorded as G.W.Richardson. You will see him paired with Louise. She is recorded as being 20, but she dies two years later at 19. It's recorded that her father was born in Indiana, her mother in Tennessee, and she was born in Tennessee also (all of this is the same as Rachel). George also says he is 30 something, but that wasn't the truth either. He was born around 1836.

The other thing you will need to know is that a year prior to that census he was known as James L. Poffenbarger (sometimes spelled Poffenberger), and had been living in Bennet, Nebraska.

Sure, she could have; but I haven't found that anywhere. I've spelled her name several ways Rachel, Racheal, Rachael, Barmor, and Barmore. I can't find anything.

I'm still convinced she married my great-grandfather, but feel the need to see something.

Yes he did. Of the 3 children living with him and Julia, at the time of the 1880 census, Atchison Co. Mo.; I've been able to account for two of them.

I've pretty much tracked Maggie M. through to her death in Oklahoma.

Joseph B. (I think it's actually supposed to be Josephine, and referred to as Josie) marries a man by the name of C.P. Hasbra and they were in Los Angeles with Jasper.

Rachel L. remains an enigma. I'm wondering about the middle name, because my great-grandfather married a young woman he called "Louisa". As his wife, in the 1885 Nebraska state census it's recorded that her parents are born in Indiana and Tennesse, the same as is stated in the 1880 Federal Census. In some of his pension paper work I also read that she was from Atchison, Co. Mo. I don't have a clear reading of her last name. I also can't seem to find any record of their marriage. They had one child together in 1886, and in 1887 "Louisa" dies of spinal meningitis.

If I could prove what the "L" in Rachel's middle name stood for, I would be comfortable that this was her. I know that people often used their middle names as their given names during this time. At this point, I'm just fishing for an answer. I can't find any record of their marriage, but I'm still looking.

I'm looking for information on a young woman who was living with her parents Jasper and Julia (Settles) in Atchison, Co. Mo. She had two sisters Josephine (Josie) and Maggie. There were lots of Settles in the area at the time, but I'm looking for information on Rachel. I would really like to know her middle name. What did the "L" stand for.

I'm related to Muntz. Maybe you can help me out. I've been trying to research these people for a long time and I have very little information on them.
My great grandmother Susie Frye, her mother is Lorinda Muntz.Her mother was Lucinda and Her dad might of been John Muntz. Lorinda was married twice. The first time to a Martin and the second time to Mitchel and that is spelled with one "L". Mitchel I'm related to. They all ended up in Nebraska by 1900. They were all in Atchison County. I do know her son from her first marriage was born in Langdon and the others were possibly in Rock Port.

This is listed as being in section 10 in the Tarkio Twp. It appears to be just north of Tarkio. Can anyone tell me anything about it--history, is it still in existance, etc.

Looking for possible death information for. Samantha L. Scott. born in VA 1824, moved to Ohio. In the Rockport area 1870-1880 Census.
Dressmaker in Rockport. She went by S.L.H.Scott.
She left her second husband in Ohio and followed Anson B. McCreary (son-in-law) and daughter Virgina to MO.
I looked in SOS MO. but did not find a death.
But thought she might be in a cemetery listing.
Any help would be appreciated.

I know it has been a while since you posted but I do have a copy of the front page of the Townsend Brown Family Bible. Listing all of the children and their correct birthdates (I would assume filled out by Townsend or Mary) You can find the page on my ancestry.com page, my name is nikirayven on here. If that does not work I would be glad to send you a copy if you are a relation of the Townsend Brown family of Howard County, MO. ...now that I see the name Wheeler...I also have a picture of a "Wheeler" in my box of pictures.

I assume the Deloris you are referring to is Deloris Harrington. Her sister is Betty Chamberlain and she has helped me in the past, but the graves I was looking for are marked.

Where do you live? I'm now in California. It's so sad that the records are missing or were destroyed. That means so much history is gone.

I have the records that Deloris has, but all they have is what is in news articles etc but the problem is the plot records for that cemetery are missing. No one knows where my great grandfather and great great grandfather are buried in the cemetery. They had tombstones many years ago, but vandals destroyed graves and no one knows now where they are buried. I could get a new military tombstone for my great grandfather but do not know where buried at.

I have the only records that Delores has. They know from articles that my great and great great grandfathers are buried in that cemetery but doesn't know where at. If we could find out we could get a replacement military tombstone for my great grandfather, but they do not know where at they are buried there.

I was told the cemetery records are gone. No one knows where they are. Tombsones got destroyed and plot records are gone so know one knows where the burials are in the cemetery.

My father was Gratz Bartholomew, the owner of Bartholomew Mortuary. He retired in the late 1960s and moved to Sun City, Arizona. The mortuary was sold to Michael Minter who still operates it. I assume his records went with the sale. Their phone number is 660-744-2323. If Minter doesn't have the information on burial records, you can try the other mortuary in Rock Port (Chamberlain Mortuary) may have the burial records you are looking for. Their phone number is 660-744-2122.

I have done some research on the other names you mentioned. There are several Linvilles (Carl, Sr. and Anna, Edgar Carl 1909-1952, and Harry Carl 1886-1955).

There were also some Jennings, Smiths, etc.

Please let me know if you would like additional information.

I am not sure if we have the same family. In 1880 James and Jane Luckey were living in Atchison Co., Missouri. He worked for the railroad. I don't know if they were in Perry County.

I have a great, great, great grandmother named Jane Luckey, I don't know for sure who her Husband was, I know my direct line down from her is Catharine J Kiefner (Luckey) who married Charles Kiefner, and the next step down is their son, my great grandfather, Edwin.

Where did you find the history of Fountain. I checked the history of Lucas County, but his name did not show on rootsweb. Also, when and where did Catherine die? Vern Garrison has done a lot of research on this family. Have you contacted him?

There is nice history of Fountain and his family to be found in Lucas Co. Iowa. His daughter Catherine born 1850 in Brown Co Indiana was my gg grandmother. I am trying to do research on Susan Garrison Devore and her mother Elizabeth Raney Garrison. And trying to fill in the family slots of siblings.
