Hello, Joseph Dike Spencer was b. abt 1808/1810-1886 KY. It says he is buried in Moleno, MO... Susan S. Spencer b. abt 1845-1885 she is buried in St. Louis, MO. She is the dau of Joseph Dike and Elizabeth Bishop Spencer. Susan married John F. Fredde b. abt 1834-1925 they married in Audrain Co. MO on 11-26-1867 they had 4 children their dau Ida Belle Freddie Haggard is buried in Audrain Co. MO b. 1872-1946. A lot of family lived or moved to Loudon, VA. anything would help! You can try contacting the Mexico Ledger, (573) 581-1111. They have what they call their "morg files", which are vertical files of clippings from the paper. These mostly include obituaries, but may include other articles on a person. Someone there could probably pull this for you. If they won't, you can also try the Audrain County Area Genealogical Society, http://www.acags.org/Research.html . They are happy to do look-ups. Unfortunately I'm not going to be available for a while or I would do it.

The ST Louis County Public Library has an extensive obituary collection for the ST Louis area. Since Susan Spencer Fredde died in ST Louis, you may try contacting them for an obit for her. Good luck.

Have you looked at the MO death certificate database on their digital heritage site? http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/a... It currently covers the years 1910-1962. There is a John F Fredde died 18 Aug, 1925. Best of luck.

If you're still out there . . . . Mary Augusta (Gusty) Smelser Baggett was my great grandmother. I would love a copy of Sarah's obituary as well as any extraneous information you might have about Gusty. In particular, any information about the cause of death of Gusty's husband, Zachary, at such a young age (only 37). Any family pictures from back then? I have a couple of photos I think might be Smelsers from then, but they are not labeled.

My husband and I bought the Locke land in 2002, at the land auction, anyway we bought 80 acres of there 2500 acre land. We torn down the pink house on ACR 395 in 2005 and built our new barn home in front of the 20 acre lake. We love living here, so quit and peaceful. This will be our retirement place!

There is a family story that Ida Belle Fredde Haggard 1872-1947 was the mother of my ggrdpa Edward Lee Freddie he was b. 9-4-1886,1887,1888 in Des Moines, Iowa and d. 6-11-1965 Phoenix, AZ. Hi, I'm the ggrddaughter of Edward Lee Fredde b.9-4-1886/1887/1888 Des Moines, Iowa - d. 6-11-1965 Phoenix, AZ. His daughter(Vina) Lorene Freddie Davis is my grdma. Edward's mothers name is Susan P. Spencer Fredde 1845-1885... There was a rumor that his sister Ida Belle Fredde was his mother not Susan. Ida was born in 1873 they say she was always telling him what to do when he ask her was she his mother she said nothing... Ida married a Earle Haggard and had 2 sons. I have recently started searching and ran into the road block of J W Coon and S E Coon from Lewis County Missouri. A review of available census entries and other, suggests the following narrative: William and Matilda Haerer arrived in the United States circa 1882 settling in Montgomery County, MO. By 1900, Mrs. Haerer was a widow and the couple's children were Christian, born Germany, Otto born MO, Ida Bertha, Frederick W., Adolph A., and Matilda Bertha.
The widow Matilda Haerer married the widower Frederick "Fritz" Hollenbeck 04 Mar 1904; marriage was recorded in Montgomery County, MO (copied to right). A son, Frederick W. Hollenbeck, was born circa 1906.
By 1930, the widow Matilda Hollenbeck was living in the Mexico, Audrain, MO, household of her widower son-in-law, Albert Hendrix. The maiden name, Fritz, was obtained from the Ancestry family tree of nfaucett7512n. Mrs. Hollenbeck's memorial was placed in this cemetery because her daughter was buried here. Research is ongoing.

Might anyone locate an obituary for Matilda Hollenbeck? She died 17 Mar 1932. Although she died in CA, there is supposed to be an obituary in an Audrain County paper. Thank you for anything.

from the 1937 "Audrain Centennial History" by Schooley=
(excerpts) admitted to the bar after the war...twice elected to the legislature...served one four year term in the state senate...prosecuting attorney of the county. In 1880 was elected attorney general of the state. After this term he moved to Jefferson City to practice law. In a few years he lost his eyesight and returned to Mexico. He had no children...many relatives in this part of the state.
