Nelly M. Ewell Powers and John Powers

Looking for information on Nelly M. Ewell Powers (1810-1897) or John Powers her husband. Nelly lived and died in or near Foster, Bates Co. in 1897. I'm trying to make a connection to her and John Powers (1793-?) and the lineage of William W. Powers (1820-1868) buried in the Papinville Cemetery. John and William were both from Kentucky but Nelly was too young to be William's Mother and was born in Missouri. Before the Civil War William and family owned 1200 acres near Papinville and John was living nearby with Nelly. All moved to or thru Palo Pinto Co, Texas about 1860. William and family on their way to California to safely ride out the War. McCool relatives also lived in Texas after Bates Co around 1860.

I'd also like information on how to jump from Missouri to Kentucky about the 1840-1850 time period since census records aren't much help.

Thanks for any help!!
