Many of the graves were bulldozed, (although this information is not widely known and you will NOT get much help in this area if seeking info). There is a small graveyard outside the prison facility and you can go up to the marker but not beyond. My grandmother worked there for many many years when it was a mental illness hospital (insane assylum). My husband worked for them as they were moving across the street and the previous grounds were made ready for the prison construction. Many things are done in the name of progress. My own ggg grandmother was buried at the Buchanan Co. Poor Farm located at what was formerly known as Green Acres. The highway and later the North Village shoppes went in. City officials deny what is obvious, the graveyard was bull dozed over and asphalt laid. They claim not to know where the exact location of the graveyard was but there are many platt maps of that particular area. It is sad, but not really anything anyone can do. I did my best to bring it to light.
