I have a couple that must have married about 1869 but I have had no luck on finding the marriage record as yet. As most of you know just because people lived in a place does not mean that they married in that place.
The bride was a Sarah L. McCoy. She was listed in the 1860 census in the HH of HD and Martha McCoy, age 6, so she would have been no older than 15 when she married. (There is a baby in Feb 1870.) Could she have married in either MO or AR without parental consent at that time?
The groom was AJ Lale who was at least 29 years of age in 1869 and a widower.
Note: I did check the marriage applications on the Butler Genweb site but there was nothing there on this.
