I agree, he must have died prior to 1830. However, someone did pass along to me a document which indicated that a Daniel Bollinger, formally of Cape Girardeau County, in 1825 deeded (or gave) a slave girl to his daughter Polly Hudson of Cape Girardeau County, who had recently became a widow.
This supports the family tradition that that our Philip Bollinger, Sr., brought his aged father to Wayne County.
I have always suspected this was ca. 1820. I am at a loss in Wayne County. Our courthouse burned during the Civil War and again in 1893. All records were lost.
I have just sent off my ancestry.com DNA kit. This may help, if others are researching the same line.
