Last rites were held Saturday at the Ford & Sons Funeral Home for Mrs. Annie Eakins, 88 years old of Cape Girardeau, who died Friday in a hospital there. Burial was in McGuire Cemetery near Burfordville. She was born August 18, 1873, near Burfordville, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Young. In 1892, she was married to James Eakins, who died 59 years ago. Mrs. Eakins had resided in Cape Girardeau since 1916, moving from Burfordville. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by 2 daughters: Mrs. Ruddle Abernathy and Mrs. A. J. Langston of Cape, 4 sisters: Mrs. Flora Simmons of Cape Girardeau, Mrs. Effie Nance and Mrs. Elza Langston of Whitewater, Mrs. Odie Medley of Delta; 9 grand children, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
