TROY H. EAKINS
Troy H. Eakins, 58 years old of Cape Girardeau, died suddenly Thursday. Mr. Eakins, who had been ill for nine weeks was released Thursday from a local hospital.
Mr. Eakins was born November 3, 1902, at Burfordville. In November 1923, he married the former Miss Maine Slinkard in Cape Girardeau. She died March 2, 1957.
A farmer most of his life, he was employed for the past 15 months at the S.E. Missouri Hospital. He moved to Cape from Millersville 15 months ago and maintained membership at the Fairview Methodist Church north of Burfordville.
Surviving are four sons: Jay F. and Norman L. Eakins of Streator, IL; James I. and Marion T. Eakins of Millersville; two daughters, Mrs. Dottie Roberts of St. Louis and Mrs. Doris Smith of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Hubert and Erma Eakins of Whitewater and Van Eakins of Crump, and four grandchildren.
Services were conducted Sunday at West Side Church of God and burial was in Fairview Church Cemetery north of Burfordville.
Note: His brother's name, "Erma", is spelled as it is in the newspaper. I have no further information.
